Dot org

… as an organization, this is the new address. TAI website is now renewed.

In first place, the webnauts will discover the new visual lay out and to which extent surfing on these pages has improved: it is now easier, more immediate, more intuitive and therefore much more productive.

A particular attention has been paid to make the articles list more visual. The pictures are bigger, more detailed and better integrated in a more precise and varied lay out. All past comments have been kept but they are now on the same page as the article, which vastly improves the overall coherence by avoiding tedious back or forth readings. Enhancing the comments (fonts, bold etc) is also easier.

The new search engine has broadened your options. New search criteria are now available: “articles by year, with videos”…

All these improvements make the 215 articles much easier and pleasant to read and therefore to rediscover. The website now is now compatible with any type of reader, PC, tablet, smartphones, notebooks: whatever screen and resolution you use…

A special topic has appeared in the forums and will welcome any question without being linked to a specific article.

Of course, all previous users accounts are still valid and available. You will just need to ask for a new password to re activate yours.

The creation of International Takemusu Aikido Federetion (ITAF) was decided three years ago to organize and manage the teaching and examinations at international level. The creation, right after, of ITAF website has allowed establishing a bridge between the two sites: the TAI/ITAFnews portal. All these efficient tools allow (along with the RSS feeds and the newsletter) being informed of the site news in your language.

Eventually, the website, already enjoyed in many countries, is now equipped with all the tools that were missing to reach a truly international audience. The English version is now available and will be gradually developed by Leon, from Singapore. Paata in Georgia has been translating TAI articles for years and we offered him to publish a Georgian version on line. ITAF’s development in China and in Middle East announces versions in Arabic and Mandarin.

That new version of the website represents a true opening and an important step towards a worldwide development of Takemusu Aikido. TAI web site, once limited to French speakers, has now become an international reference for all practitioners and students who want to gain a thorough understanding of the genuine Aikido Takemusu, as created by the Founder, Morihei O Sensei Ueshiba.

Nothing would have been possible without our webmaster’s efforts, François, the architect of that digital cathedral. His constant enthusiasm, his patience, his generosity, his expertise and his volunteer work made possible what first looked like an impossible task. I take this opportunity to personally thank him, along with all TAI and ITAF members and more generally speaking in the name of all Aikido practitioners around the world who will gain access to a knowledge that would have had few chances to reach them otherwise.

What is Traditional Aikido?

Aikido is not a sport, it is a martial art which laws (takemusu) are in harmony with the laws of the universe. Studying them allows the practitioner to understand his place in the universe. Aikido was born in Iwama, O sensei achieved in that village the synthesis of tai jutsu, aiki ken and aiki jo.

Where to practice Traditional Aikido?

The International Takemusu Aikido Federation (ITAF) brings to the practitioner the structure he needs in order to work as close as possible to the reality O sensei MU defined. The official national representations are the guarantee of a teaching faithful to the Founder's.

The weapons of Aikido, aiki ken and aiki jo

In modern Aikido, weapons are hardly taught, if taught at all. In O sensei's Aikido, on the contrary, aiki ken, aiki jo and tai jutsu are unified and form together a riai, a family of harmonious techniques stemming from one unique principle. Each techniques helps understand all the others.

Aikido, a martial art or an art of peace?

Peace is a balance between a human being and the world around him. The true martial art's goal is not to become stronger than one's opponent but to find in that opponent a way to realize harmony. There is no enemy anymore as such, but an opportunity offered to reach unified ki.
